FUEL COST COMPARISONUseable heat costs are comparable. Each fuel has been adjusted for gross cost (per gal., ton, cord), BTU value and firing efficiency.
Notes:
² This group of pellets includes wood, cardboard and certain types of paper and ag-residues. This premium fuel category has under 2% ash. ³ This category includes peanut hulls, sunflower hulls and oat hulls. Ash contents are greater than 3%. |

but....
what if it took more energy to extract a unit of power from a fuel source than what you could ultimately get out of it?
the "net energy price" of fuel is not accounted for by economists
in the 1950's, the petrochemical indutry generated the energy equivalent of 5 barrels of oil for every barrel they spent producing it
in the '90's, despite advances in technology, they only got 3
some experts now say that by the year 2005, industry will only produce the same amount of energy from a barrel of oil as was spent obtaining it from the earth.
at that point, irregardless of the price of oil or how much of it is left in the ground, it will no longer make any market sense to produce it.
when that happens, our petroleum based energy economy will be bankrupt!

knowledge is power. however, special Year 2000 laws have placed limits on freedom of speech, restrict journalists, and make it harder to hold industry accountable.

NEW QUESTIONS ABOUT GRID
An Honors graduate from the University of Oregon, Stuart developed his research skills as a student of human performance and information processing theory, while conducting special experimentation and thesis with groundbreaking scientists in the fields of cognition and artificial intelligence.
Stuart later earned an MS degree in Education at Portland State University
As a teacher, Stuart gained national recognition by helping to develop and implement specialized computer applications for educators. Stuart later applied these skills in his work with the IT services of a major telecommunications firm, innovatively overhauling the computer network functions for their billion dollar a year business.
Stuart has served as a featured panelist for the White House Council for Year 2000 Conversion's "Community Conversations" initiative and has traveled around the country speaking and collaborating on presentations about our energy infrastructure including programs at George Washington University, and The Energy Engineers of America.
Stuart gained added national recognition last year for the instrumental role he played in establishing the truth about the controversial Navy study known as "The Master Utility List" and has taken on the challenge of untangling other facts from the many fictions surrounding the problems known to be confronting the nation's power grids in the 21st century.
Stuart's reports have been heard on the nationally syndicated radio show with Art Bell, on broadcast from San Diego Radio KFMB and worldwide on the internet, "Sightings on the Radio with Jeff Rense", as well as on other radio and TV newscasts. Throughout his career, Stuart's work has also been featured in the Portland Oregonian, The Boston Herald, on CNN fn, and in other major media.
Stuart is author of the book "The Last Days of Power?", has written and directed a television documentary and feature presentation aired last year by Time Warner Public Access in Tampa, Florida and is the current moderator of the popular internet egroup, "Electricity Deregulation".
Stuart is the national founder of "Operation NERC Watch," a grassroots effort to promote awareness of the plans for government and industry to prepare the power grid for the year 2000, serves on the Board of Directors of The West Coast People's Energy Co-op, and is the Director of Communications for The Ecological Life Systems Institute.
